In 2023, Apple will maintain its lineup of four iPhones, introducing the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Similar to the iPhone 14 Pro series, the iPhone 15 Pro models will boast exclusive features not available in the more affordable iPhone 15 devices.
The Upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
Based on circulating rumors, here’s an overview of what is known about the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. The iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have a 6.1-inch display, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a 6.7-inch screen, matching the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro models.
Apple is planning to give the iPhone 15 Pro models an updated design, with thinner and curved bezels, along with a new titanium chassis. Additionally, the “mute” button will be redesigned, potentially functioning as an action button akin to the one found on the Apple Watch Ultra, effectively replacing the current mute switch.
The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will be equipped with an upgraded 3-nanometer A17 chip, while the iPhone 15 models will use the same A16 chip as the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. All iPhone 15 models will feature Dynamic Island and will transition from the Lightning port to USB-C. However, the iPhone 15 Pro lineup will enjoy an enhanced USB-C port offering USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds.
Expectations include more RAM paired with the A17 chip, while all iPhone 15 models will rely on the same 5G Qualcomm modem chip technology for connectivity. Furthermore, Apple is rumored to introduce a new Ultrawide Band chip for nearby interactions, which will integrate with the Vision Pro headset scheduled for an early 2024 launch. The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are set to have similar features, with one major difference being the telephoto camera lens.
Both models will include telephoto lens technology within their three-camera array. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will boast a periscope lens, enabling 5x to 6x optical zoom, a significant improvement over the 3x zoom offered by the iPhone 14 Pro models. As for color options, rumors indicate that the iPhone 15 Pro models will be available in blue, silver, space gray/black, and titanium gray.
