Intel has filed new SATA compliance information for the upcoming PCHs to the SATA-IO organization. According to the report filed, intel mentions certain Device IDs for Alder Lake and Raptor Lake PCH series, namely 7AB0 to 7ACB and 7A30 to 7A4B. this is not the first time Alder Lake and Raptor Lake appear together; however, this time, the filing is the first official filing covering both the upcoming client processor series.

We have already heard reports that the chip manufacturer plans on making the 12th Gen Gen Alder Lake and 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake share the same Platform Controller Hub (PCB). Both CPU lineups will also share the same LGA1700 socket, and both will support PCIe Gen 5 and DDR5 technologies.

Also, there have been many rumours and leaks about Raptor Lake, but Intel has never publically confirmed the features of this Alder Lake successor. However, from the leaks, we know that Intel’s Raptor Lake will feature an improved Hybrid Technology (Intel’s heterogenous core architecture) as well as support LPDDR5X memory standard.

It also announced that Raptor Lake would also have high-efficiency cores which will be up to 16, double what Alder Lake is expected to feature in top SKUs. Intel’s 13th Gen Core series is now expected to launch during the 2022 Holiday season. It would compete with AMD’s Zen4 ‘Raphael’ series, which should launch a bit sooner.
