This autumn, Intel is anticipated to release its 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh CPUs. This new line of chips is based on the 13th generation of Intel Core processors, however, they are essentially updated versions of those same CPUs. The Raptor Lake-S Refresh chips are unofficial, but many reported leaks offer us a general indication of what we might anticipate.
If these rumours and claims are accurate, Intel’s upcoming processors won’t represent a significant improvement above the Raptor Lake CPUs currently found in the best Windows 11 laptops and desktop PCs.
September 2023 is when Intel is most likely to make its 14th-generation CPU announcement. The focus of the Innovation 2023 event will be the 14th Gen Intel CPUs, also known as the Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs.
Leaker momomo_us claimed that the Raptor Lake Refresh CPU range might cost up to 16% more than current Raptor Lake chips if rounded up.
In comparison to the Core i5-13600K, which costs $330, the Core i5-14600K is expected to cost $380. According to reports, the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF cost respectively 15.8% and 13.8% more than the Core i9-13900K and Core i9-13900K.
The Raptor Lake Refresh specs have not yet received official word, just like the price. However, the specifications of the CPU range are said to have been leaked by none other than MSI.
On MSI’s YouTube account, a training video showcasing the company’s most recent Intel 700 motherboard series and PC cases was discovered by VideoCardz. The motherboard was the subject of the majority of the presentation’s slides. On one slide, details regarding the Raptor Lake Refresh line were disclosed.
The undisclosed processors won’t receive any significant core count enhancements, according to MSI’s PowerPoint, with the exception of the Core i7-14700K, which will have 12 Efficiency cores as opposed to the Core i7-13700K’s 8 E-cores. The Core i5-14600K and Core i9-14900K will both have the same 8P+16E configuration as their last-generation counterparts.
According to MSI, Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs will generally be 3% quicker than 13th Gen CPUs, but because the Core i7 has more cores, it will do multithreaded workloads 17% faster. Anything said in this post should not be taken as gospel because Intel Raptor Lake-S Refresh CPUs have not yet been launched. But given that the rumoured advancements aren’t significant, the reported leaks and sources suggest that this updated CPU line is appropriately titled.
