Intel to reportedly have ARM as its first customer for its 18A process

Intel’s next-generation 18A node is certainly one of the most hot topics in the tech market. We are also recently hearing some reports that ARM could be Iamong the first customers to use the new process of Intel. We already have seen reports that both these company’s had struck a long-term agreement for the development of next-generation mobile SoCs, likely employing Intel’s 18A process technology.

However, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a highly regarded industry source, has reaffirmed ARM’s commitment to collaborating with Intel Foundry to make a significant impact in the mobile business, perhaps challenging Qualcomm and MediaTek.

Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that ARM is working with the chip maker to optimise their CPU IP for its 18A technology. Going forward, both organisations are looking for a “hybrid” method that does not include a high risk component and may result in lower expenses.

Intel 18A might be included in ARM’s forthcoming chips. If this happens this could become a game changer for both the companys as they have been waiting for an opportunity to make advancements in the sector.

The initial implementation is said to be uncompetitive. because ARM and Intel intend to increase delivery volumes. The collaboration, however, will pique the interest of the HPC business, which is now experiencing a tremendous upturn because to the rapid surge in GenAI development.

Going through some of the anticipated improvements with the company’s 18A technology, it will use RibbonFET transistors as well as a new “PowerVia” distribution system, which is expected to bring considerable performance figures onboard. It has been revealed that we could see a 10% gen-to-gen improvement with 18A, which is a significant number in the fabrication business.
