Intel Core Ultra 9 285 “Arrow Lake” CPU has been revealed as a flagship Tier SKU with a 65W variant and up to 24 Cores. As for the Core Ultra Series 2 “Arrow Lake” CPUs, they will first debut with the K-series lineup, which includes five brand new chips, while lower-power 65W and 35W SKUs are slated to release in early-2025 that serve alongside mainstream 800-series chipset motherboards such as the B860 and H810.
The Upcoming Intel Core Ultra 9 285 Arrow Lake CPU
This lineup has been detailed in some previous reports and we have our first look at an as-yet-unannounced Intel Core Ultra 9 285 CPU, which appeared in a Geekbench 6 listing. The software was tested on an ASUS PRIME Z890-P motherboard that supports the LGA 1851 socket, and Arrow Lake Desktop in its entirety.
In terms of specifications, from what we can see here, the Intel Core Ultra 9 285 features the same core structure as the Core Ultra 9 285K, with a total of 24 cores consisting of eight P-Cores (Lion Cove) and sixteen E-Cores (Skymont), totaling to support for 24 threads. It has 36 MB of L3 cache, operates at a base frequency of 2.5 GHz, and can boost to up to 5.6 GHz. It is expected to have a PL2 rating of about 200 watts and, tested using just 8 GB of DDR5-5600 memory for boot purposes, this spec sheet would also indicate an early engineering sample.
This may explain its performance, showing a single-core score of 3,081, which is decent, but a multi-core score of 14,150, falling short of the 17-18K range seen in the Core i9-14900 Non-K CPUs. Performance is anticipated to be slightly below that of the Core Ultra 9 285K, given its more conservative power ratings, yet it should still represent a significant improvement overall. The Intel Core Ultra 9 285K is set to launch on October 24, while the 65W lineup, including the Core Ultra 9 285 “Arrow Lake” CPU, is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2025.
