Intel Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake: IO Configurations and LGA 1851 Socket Pinout Plan Revealed

Intel’s upcoming Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake CPUs will introduce a variety of IO configurations, as detailed by @jaykihn0. These CPUs are part of Intel’s diverse lineup spanning from high-end desktops to slim and light designs, featuring the Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” and Core Ultra 200V “Lunar Lake” families. There is a clear history of Lunar Lake architecture by now, and given that we have even more information on the IO capabilities for both sides.

More About Intel Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake

The SOC Tile with the top-end Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs will have 16 PCIe Gen5 lanes for discrete graphics, while the IOE Tile would feature up to 4 Gen5 and another 4 Gen4 lanes for M.2 SSDs, yielding a PCH (800-series) as many as 14 LC-branded HH units of any kind or class that you want slaved out at interplanetary-gateway speeds. Incidentally, 13 USB2 and 10 USB3 lanes will be there as well. As with the desktop parts, Arrow Lake-HX CPUs feature one more USB2 lane than their closest relatives.

Further down the road, Arrow Lake-H CPUs would arrive with 12 Gen4 lanes on the SOC tile, 8 Gen5 ones for discrete graphics, and 8 Gen4 lines for M.2 SSDs resulting in a total of 50, with 10 lanes being USB2 and 2 USB3 on the PCH tile. Arrow Lake-U is likely to have similar I/O capabilities, but the data doesn’t go into great detail; it’s expected for Arrow Lake-H SKUs to have slightly more lines for everything. Intel’s Lunar Lake CPUs will consolidate all IO capabilities on the SOC tile, including UFS (1×2), Gen4 (GBE x1), Gen4 (x3), Gen5 (x4), USB 3.2 Gen2x1 (x2), USB3 (x2), and USB2 (x6) lanes.

Back then @jaykihn0 released the Arrow Lake-S Desktop Pins Plan and today he exactly advertised this plan alongside IO configurations, The Intel LGA 1851 socket will be intended for flexible work area CPUs contrasted with existing LGA 1700/1800 sockets expected to get an additional 51 pins in the LGA format.

Intel is expected to release these soon, with Lunar Lake CPUs launching as the first Core Ultra 200 series product in September which will be followed by Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs for high-performance PCs opening in October. The rest of the Core Ultra 200 CPUs will arrive in early 2025 post-CES reveal, with more information to be had at Intel’s September Innovation event.
