New Intel Core i9-12900HK is faster than the M1 Max at the cost of power efficiency

Two undisclosed Intel Alder Lake mobile processors show a substantial performance boost over last generation chips in a new batch of leaked benchmark testing. The Core i7-12700H and i5-12500H, which are considered mainstream processors, are not only faster than AMD’s Zen 3 offerings but also faster than 11th Gen flagship CPUs, according to the benchmarks.

The benchmark tests were discovered on Weibo and discovered by Twitter user @9550pro. The Weibo user appears to have acquired access to Intel’s future H-Series chips. The Intel Core i7-12700H, with 14 cores and 20 threads, is the slowest SKU in the Alder Lake-P series. The basic clock is 3.5 GHz and may be increased to 4.7 GHz with a boost. It is 300 MHz slower than the reported series when compared to the first Core i9 chips.

With the NVIDIA RTX 3060 and 3070 graphic processors, the new i7-12700H is expected to be used in laptop gaming systems. However, according to the Weibo user’s benchmarks, it exceeds the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H series by more than 35 percent.

The results are from the Cinebench R20 and R23 tests, as well as the CPU-Z benchmark test. In the tests, the Intel Core i9-11980H, i5-12500H, i7-12700H, and Ryzen 7 5800H processors were employed. The 12500H processor, which has 12 cores and 16 threads, looks to perform better than the unclocked i9-11980HK model, which was the flagship Intel 11th Gen Tiger lake processor family. In addition, one of the leaked pictures looks to be from Intel.

When compared to AMD’s Ryzen 7 5800H CPU, which has eight cores and 16 threads, the Intel Core i7-12700H appears to be 24.78 percent more efficient in single-threaded benchmark tests and 34.62 percent faster in multi-threaded scans.

Aside from the benchmark test results, the most shocking news is that the newest Intel chips, which have yet to be released, are still under embargo, with no one having access to disclosing any information before departure. A user on Bilibili posted a video showing identical tests with power scaling.

The new Intel 12th Gen Core Alder Lake CPUs will be available next month in a variety of notebook designs aimed at gamers, multimedia makers, and general users.
