AMD launched its Instinct MI200 GPUs and AMD ROCm™5 software in March this year and a lot of OEMs are using them to strengthen their computing power. The Red team has expanded system support from partners including ASUS, Dell Technologies, Gigabyte, HPE, Lenovo, and Supermicro.

Recently Microsoft has declared that it will use this extremely powerful Instinct MI200 Accelerators to power large-scale AI training workloads in Microsoft Azure.

Additionally, Microsoft is working with the PyTorch Core team and the AMD data center software team to optimize the performance and developer experience for customers running PyTorch on Azure, ensuring that developers’ PyTorch projects take advantage of the performance and features of AMD Instinct accelerators.

AMD Instinct MI200 accelerators join the numerous AMD products being used at Microsoft Azure including the newly announced Azure HBv3 virtual machines which use 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache Technology, and many other instances for confidential computing, general-purpose workloads, memory-bound workloads, visual workloads and more.
