Instagram, a well-known social media platform, also provides an online shopping and other functions. Live shopping will soon be removed from the social media platform owned by Meta, according to a recent announcement. In their live broadcasts, users can tag things using Instagram’s live shopping feature. The business amended its official blog article to inform readers that as of March 16, this functionality will no longer be accessible to users. Previously, Facebook also had access to this feature. In October 2022, the social media juggernaut took this function off of Facebook.
The firm announced this on its page that starting on March 16, 2023, users won’t be able to mention products in live streams on Instagram. This adjustment will enable them to concentrate on features and services that are most beneficial to their users.
Instagram will no longer offer live shopping
When products become live on Instagram, this functionality enables verified companies and creators to tag products. Viewers can use live shopping to purchase or save items that are added to the live video. Businesses were able to use this function to demonstrate how to use products, offer reviews or suggestions for products, and even respond to inquiries from their audience. Users can communicate directly with their followers on Instagram live.
These capabilities allow businesses to inform their customers about new items and promotions. Live shopping can also be used to promote the sales of goods or joint venture products. According to the firm, it will keep funding “shopping experiences for people and companies across the feed, stories, Reels, advertisements, and more.” Instagram users will still be able to set up and manage their businesses on social media networks even without the live shopping function. Other live broadcasting capabilities will not be impacted, according to Instagram. The ability to plan a live broadcast, invite visitors to the live broadcasts, and conduct a live Q&A are all included in this.
