The agriculture focussed India could be the next biggest manufacturing giant not only because of its progressive thinking towards “Make in India” but also for a new discovery today, yes, Lithium is found in India! A huge 5.9 million tonnes of #lithium deposits have been found for the first time in India that too in Jammu & Kashmir, which has already been in dispute for decades now. Already we knew J&K is rich in reserves of natural resources but this new discovery of such an important component like Lithium could change India’s fate forever!

The most interesting fact is, after this 5.9 million tonnes of Lithium deposits in India, this makes the country second in the list of top countries. This is a very big deal because until now India had to be dependant on others but now India could sustain its own needs and also be a big exporter of Lithium.

As we know, Lithium is used in the tech industry, primarily for making lithium-ion batteries, now, with such huge quantities of this rare earth metal India could be a next big giant. India is booming in EV industry and hundreds of startups have been using these batteries to power these vehicles, so having own lithium reserves will indeed help the country.

More startups and companies can oportunitize lithium in India to make low-cost batteries and could pave a new future of EVs. Also, this will help India’s ambitious goal of achieving net zero standards in next few decades and who knew Jammu & Kashmir could be a huge lithium reserve for the country?
