Billions of people held their breath in suspense as Mahendra Singh Dhoni took up the responsibility and came up the order before Yuvraj Singh, who later was handed the Man of the Tournament for his amazing scoresheet in the tournament. India’s 28 years of the long wait for a World Cup win was finally over as the courageous decision by Captain Cool proved right that night at the Wankhede Stadium. As Nuwan Kulasekara came to bowl in the last over of that exciting final, it was M.S Dhoni who was the hero, hitting a huge six to the stands and the celebration started.

P.V Sindhu turned India’s dream into reality with her power-packed performance. After she bounced back from the edge of the champion Tai Tzu-Ying, the top seed from Chinese Taipei during the quarter-finals and also dominated the Chinese Chen Yufei in the semi-finals, and finally displayed her best against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara, as the final turned out to be a mind-boggling performance from Sindhu as she took revenge for the loss suffered in the 2017 title clash.

Dipa Karmakar was a significant contribution for putting India Gymnastic on the global stage after she entered the record books by being the first Indian to book a berth at the Rio Games 2016. She almost made it to the podium but unfortunately fell short by a whisker. She became the fifth woman to perform the extremely tough and risky Produnova vault, but sadly she missed out on bronze by just 0.150 points. But she is extremely courageous to overcome this disappointment by clinching the gold at the World Challenge Cup, in Turkey, in 2018. In 2014, she bagged the bronze medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Hiroshima Asian Championships in 2015, which also happens to be first for India.

In the tie-breaker, he defeated Russia’s Vladimir Fedoseev for an unforgettable moment in the history of Indian sport.

It was Dhaka’s Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium, India vs Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, and the whole stadium was in anticipation as the legend, Sachin Tendulkar was on 99th international hundreds and was on his way for the 100th. Tendulkar finally made it his 100th Hundred, scoring 114, as the fans witnessed a historic moment.
