The Indian cricket team will be returning in Test cricket on this Thursday (25th November) and will play against New Zealand. The match will take place in Kanpur. Since Virat Kohli won’t be playing the first match, Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the team in his absence.
Many key players are taking rest for the series for which there needed to be a reselection for India’s squad. KL Rahul chose not to play because of his muscle injury. Similarly, on the evening of first test, Rahane stated that there will be a debutant Shreyash Iyer, in the Kanpur test.
Though the batting lineup is planned but the bowling needs to be put on focus from the various options. Wasim Jaffer (former Indian cricketer) confirmed that there will be a huge transformation in bowling lineup.
He added “I would go with Mayank and Shubman Gill, now that KL is injured. Pujara at no.3 and Rahane at 4. I would go with Shreyas Iyer at no.5,No.6 would be Wriddhiman Saha, at 7 would be Ravindra Jadeja without a doubt. Ashwin at no.8, I would go with Axar Patel at no.9 due to his recent heroics against England. All three of our spinners can bat, which is a big boost.”
for the final spot, Wasim Jaffar chose Umesh Yadav over Ishant Sharma who ahs played over 100+ Test matches.
He added that Siraj will be No. 10 but for No. 11 there’s a tie between Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. His first preference was Umesh Yadav since he had an amazing performance in India and a good pace. For reverse-swing he favours in Umesh Yadav.
