As we head into a new decade, ICC have taken a look at the past decade and honoured those who had been in terrific form in the last decade.
ICC has declared the Team of the Decades of all the three formats for each Men and Women’s category on Sunday, 27th December.
Now they have honoured the best players in every format on Monday, 28th December.
Indian captain Virat Kohli has been phenomenal in the last decade. He has now been awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for ICC Male Cricketer of the Decade.
Kohli’s achievements over the last decade:
- Most runs in the ICC Awards period: 20,396
- Most hundreds: 66
- Most fifties: 94
- Highest average among players with 70+ innings: 56.97
- ICC Cricket World Cup win in 2011
- ICC Champions Trophy win in 2013
- Test series win in Australia in 2018
Virat Kohli has returned to India from the tour of Australia as he is expecting his first child with Anushka Sharma. The awards have come at a great time for the Indian captain. He has also won the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Decade.
