The Neeraj Chopra Foundation, Pullela Gopichand’s Badminton Gurukul, and AISTS INDIA have jointly announced the establishment of the Indian School of Coaching Excellence (ISCE). This new initiative, unveiled on August 13, aims to transform coach education and bolster India’s sports ecosystem by developing world-class coaching talent.
ISCE will offer multidisciplinary coach development programs designed to extend beyond traditional technical training. These programs will integrate modern disciplines such as physical literacy, sports science, sports education, technology, and career development, preparing coaches for the evolving demands of high-performance sport.
Addressing the Future of Indian Sports
The School is envisioned as a collaborative knowledge-sharing platform. It will engage with government bodies, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), various sports federations, associations, high-performance centers, academic institutions, and the private sector to advance coaching excellence nationwide.

Pullela Gopichand, a Padma Bhushan and Dronacharya awardee recognized for his coaching excellence, emphasized the pivotal role of coaches. “The future of Indian sport will be defined by the ecosystem we build, and coaches are at the heart of that ecosystem,” Gopichand stated. “ISCE is our effort to create a platform that combines global best practices with Indian experience, enabling coaches to continuously upskill, collaborate, and lead with confidence. We believe this initiative can play a meaningful role in shaping the next chapter of Indian sport.”
World and Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra, founder of the Neeraj Chopra Foundation (https://neerajchoprafoundation.org/), highlighted the coach’s influence on an athlete’s journey. “I firmly believe that every athlete’s journey is shaped by the guidance and nurturing of his/her coach, not only as a sportsperson but also as an individual,” Chopra commented. “To create the next generation of sports heroes in India, it is extremely important that our coaches have access to world-class education, mentorship, and the latest knowledge in sports science and athlete development. Through the Indian School of Coaching Excellence, the Neeraj Chopra Foundation hopes to create an environment where coaches continue to learn, evolve, and inspire generations of athletes to realize their full potential.”
The ISCE’s vision centers on building a robust coaching framework essential for India’s long-term success on the global stage. As India progresses toward becoming a global sporting power, success will be measured by both the champions produced and the supporting ecosystem. The initiative operates on the principle that every athlete deserves a proficient coach, and every coach merits access to advanced knowledge, mentorship, and opportunities, contributing to the broader landscape of recent developments in Indian sports coaching (https://technosports.co.in/).
