India vs West Indies Women: Vastrakar’s Double Strike -142 Run Chase

India Women have set a target of 142 runs for West Indies in their first warm-up match of the Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai. Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge with a stellar 52 off 40 balls, while Hayley Matthews was the star for the West Indies with four wickets. Despite Matthews’ efforts, India posted 141/8 in 20 overs. As West Indies began their chase, Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar’s early breakthroughs left them struggling at 8/2 in the third over.

With both teams preparing for the main tournament, India aims to use these warm-up matches to finalize their squad and strategies for the upcoming competition.

The West Indies’ run chase began shakily, with Renuka Singh bowling a brilliant delivery to dismiss Matthews, reducing the Windies to 8/2 in just 2.4 overs. Soon after, Pooja Vastrakar struck in the very next over, taking the wicket of Joseph. A full delivery by Vastrakar resulted in a miscued shot from Joseph, caught comfortably at mid-on, pushing the Windies further into trouble.

West Indies were left reeling at 8/2 with the pressure building rapidly. India’s bowling attack, led by Vastrakar and Renuka, seemed to have the upper hand as the West Indies struggled to build partnerships.

• Renuka Singh dismisses Hayley Matthews: A crucial breakthrough as Matthews departs for a duck, leaving WI at 8/2.
• Pooja Vastrakar strikes early: Joseph falls in the second over of the chase as Vastrakar tightens the noose around WI’s chase.
