India won the first ODI against West Indies by six wickets in the first ODI in Ahmedabad. This was also India’s 1000th ODI and the team is the first one to achieve this milestone.

Match Highlights

India had beaten West Indies by six wickets in the first ODI in Ahmedabad. It was skipper Rohit Sharma’s 44th ODI and he had opened the innings with 84 runs for opening innings with Ishan Kishan. The skipper made 10 more runs than a half-century and after that Virat Kohli returned to the pavilion after scoring just 8. Ishan Kisan mustered 28 runs for 36 balls. Rishabh Pant was the final batter who scored 11 runs for 9 balls. Suryakumar Yadav made 34 runs (36 balls) and debutant Deepak Hooda made 26 runs (32 balls). Yuzvendera Chahal had taken four wickets as India dismissed all the players at 176 runs. The Windies had a very slow start with Mohammad Siraj and removed Shai Hope at an early stage. The West Indies had kept on losing the wickets in the middle overs and were struggling at 79/7 at one point in time. Jason Holder and Fabien Allen had helped Windies reach 176. The Holder was dismissed on 57 for 71 balls. Sundar got three wickets and pacer Prasidh Krishna picked two.
