India vs South Africa 2nd Test, Day 1: India gives a target of 202 runs, SA 35/1 at stumps

The second test match between India and Australia began today. India chose to bat first and gave a target of 202 runs and South Africa scored 35 runs losing one cricket on Monday. Dean Elgar scored 11 and Keegan Peterson scored 14 runs before the ending of the match.

Team India had already scored 146 runs for 5 wickets before the tea and added 56 runs in the final session. KL Rahul again made a half-century and was the top scorer against South Africa. R Ashwin has scored 46 runs and played a vital role at the end of the innings. Left-arm Pacer Marco Jansen took 4 wickets and 31 runs while Duanne Oliver gave out 64 runs dismissing 3 wickets and Kagiso Rabada had a figure of 3/64.

India elected to bat first, Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul had a steady start against South Africa. After the drinks break, Mayank Agarwal got dismissed by Marco Jansen. Cheteshwar Pujara returned to the pavilion at 3 and got out by Duanne Oliver. India then had a figure of 53/3. In the session, Hanuma Vihari and KL Rahul hit a half-century in the innings had a solid partnership of 42 runs. Kagiso Rabida dismissed Vihari at 20 runs. R Ashwin had come to bat and hit four boundaries and made India reach 146 runs for 5 wickets. Then Jansen had dismissed Rishabh Pant at only 17 runs. Jansen bagged 4 wickets and Rabada and Oliver had got 3 wickets each in their pockets.

Mohammad Shami dismissed Aiden Markram in the 4th over in an LBW for just 7 runs. Keegan Peterson joined the partnership of 21 runs off just 85 runs at the end of the day. South Africa’s final figure is 35/1 at Stumps.

South Africa 1st innings: 35 for 1 in 18 overs (Dean Elgar batting 11, Keegan Petersen 14; Mohammad Shami 1/15).
