India defeated South Africa by a seven-wicket victory in the 2nd ODI on Sunday. South Africa posted 278 runs. India lost their opening batters Shikhar Dhawan and Shubhman Gill early. The former scored 13 whereas the latter mustered 28 runs in nine overs. Victory seemed difficult but Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan came to the rescue and had a solid partnership of 161 runs. Ishan was about to hit his maiden century but got restricted at 93 runs. Shreyas Iyer shined in the game as he smashed his second ODI century. He remained unbeaten on 113 runs. Sanju Samson played a fine game as he piled up 30 runs off 36 balls and the men in blue finished with 282/3 in 45.5 overs. South Africa’s decision to bat first proved to be disadvantageous to them and they lost their openers early too. Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks provided crucial support with a century stand. India had a strong bowling performance in the final 10 overs. Mohammad Siraj was the best pick of the bowlers as he had a figure of 3/38 from his quota of 10 overs. Others like Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, debutant Shahbaz Ahmed, and Washington Sundar scalped one wicket each.
