Match highlights

India registered a 107 run victory against Pakistan and started their ICC World Cup on an amazing note. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the star bowler picking up 4 wickets and giving only 31 runs. On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami picked two wickets for 26 runs, Meghna Singh picked 1 for 21, Deepti Sharma got 1 for 31 and Sneh Rana dismissed 1 player giving only 27 runs. Pakistan had a very poor batting performance in the 245 run chase.

Opener Sidra Ameen scored 30 runs and remained the highest run-getter of the match but got dismissed by Jhulan Goswami. From India, Pooja Vastrakar mustered 67 runs and Sneh Rana scored 53 runs making India reach 114/6. Vastrakar and Rana together had a partnership of 122 runs that had put India on the safe side. The duo also holds the record for the highest partnership for the seventh wicket in the Women’s World Cup.

India’s had an all-around effort to defeat Pakistan by 5 wickets on Sunday. Pooja Vastrakar’s 67 runs, Smriti Mandhana’s 52 runs and Sneh Rana’s 53 unbeaten helped India muster 244 runs for seven wickets.

India didn’t have a great start as opener Shefali Verma got dismissed for a duck. Mandhana and Deepti Sharma’s 92 run stand helped India get into a stable position.
