India vs New Zealand WTC Final: Day 3 Highlights

The 3rd day begun with rain in the first two hours of the match till 11 AM, after the rain stopped Indian captain Virat Kohli and India Vice-captain Ajinkiya Rahane come to the pitch to start batting.

With the Dukes ball swinging a lot, Kyle Jamieson has caused enough trouble to both the Indian captain and his deputy. Kyle Jamieson finally got the wicket of Virat Kohli scoring 44 runs just 6 runs shy of scoring a half-century. Virat Kohli was out by LBW however he goes for DRS but it’s the umpire’s call that stands still.

After which Rishabh Pant came to strike who although survived the initial LBW scare but was shortly sent back to the Indian dressing room just after scoring a mere 4 runs, 3rd scalp for Kiwi pacer Kyle Jamieson.

Following which India’s best all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came to strike who started to bat along to create a strong base with Ajinkya Rahane shortly after which Rahane began scoring some runs and the duo survived till the drinks break.

After the drinks break Rahane got caught by the extra fielder set by Kane Williamson, following Ravichandra Ashwin came to strike.

Jadeja and Ashwin start forming a formidable partnership and were looking strong but however, Ashwin succumbed to be Tim Southee’s first scalp of the test match after scoring 22 runs at the score of 205/7.

After which, Ishant Sharma came to strike and knew his job properly and kept rotating the strike when required and kept giving the strike to Jadeja by repeatedly taking singles.

However, shortly Kyle Jamieson got 2 back to back wickets taking the wickets of Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah and India remain at 217 at the loss of 9 wickets. Shortly after this Jadeja was caught and India’s 1st innings come to an end.

New Zealand’s 1st innings begins after Tom Latham and Devon Conway come to bat and Ishant Sharma opens the bowling attack.

However, the rain started pouring shortly after the beginning of the Kiwi’s 1st innings around 3:15 PM.

After the rain stopped, Latham and Conway continued to bat till tea following which they reach the 70/0 mark but shortly after that Tom Latham goes out after scoring 30 runs and the wicket was taken by R Ashwin.

Devon Conway reaches the half-century mark but Ishant Sharma strikes and Conway gets caught at mid-on after scoring 54 runs.

After which the play stops due to bad light.
