India had a remarkable victory in today’s match against Namibia. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, both of them scored half centuries that ensured the team’s win against Namibia. Earlier Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul had a partnership of 77 runs. While Rohit got out at 56, KL Rahul stayed not out and pushed India one inch forward for the win.
A good day for Rohit Sharma?
A big yes. It seems like lady luck stayed beside Rohit Sharma today, when he glanced the second ball of his innings to the fielder at short fine leg. The fielder dropped the catch and also allowed it to flow for a boundary. After a few trials, the Indian opener found his fluency and made good runs for the team.
He opened the innings and scored 54 runs in the powerplay. Not to forget, he became the third player to complete 3000 T20 runs following Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Martin Guptill. He had seven boundaries and two sixes in just 37 balls making it his second most successful half century. With crossing 50 runs today, Rohit Sharma accomplished his 24th half century today.
After he got dismissed KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav tried to play their best. After Rohit went back to the pavilion, Rahul became more fluent. Suryakumar, promoted to No 3, took little time to get set on the field – irrespective of any shot.
Namibia’s batting
Michael van Lingen and Stephan Baard started the innings. They got Namibia to a steady start without taking risks. While the former one was quick to pounce on the loose balls, Baard was a bit more daring – hitting half-volley by Shami for a six. The duo had a partnership of 33 runs before van Lingen got out to Bumrah’s delivery in the fifth over.
Wiese remained in the field even when the spinners were out of operation. He was Finally undone by Bumrah’s slower delivery. Jan Frylinck and Ruben Trumpelmann had a good partnership which helped the team to score 132 for 8.
Namibia made 132/8 in 20 overs but lost to India 136/1 in 15.2 overs by 9 wickets.
