India vs Lebanon results: India have won the 2023 Intercontinental Cup defeating Lebanon 2-0 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. Goals from Lallianzuala Chhangte and captain Sunil Chhetri helped the Blue Tigers lift the trophy for the second time, after winning the inaugural edition in 2018.
In 2019, Korea won the trophy before it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon its return, India have won the trophy again in front of a raucous home crowd. They are now expected to enter the top 100 in the FIFA World rankings.

The first half was evenly matched between the two teams, but India were able to cause more problems to their opponents. In spite of that, they were not able to trouble the opposition goalkeeper too many times as they lacked composure in the final third.
Even though they were able to build up their plays quite well, they were not able to conjure the final ball very well. But that changed in the second half, with Sunil Chhetri netting his 87th international goal to give the hosts the lead. The striker scored from close range, after being played in by Chhangte.
The Mumbai City FC winger proved to be a menace for the Lebanon defence in the second half, as he grew into the game. He eventually got his name onto the scoreboard in the second half, firing the ball into the back of the net from close range. As a result, the 26-year-old was named the man of the match for a brilliant performance in the final of the Intercontinental Cup.
Centre-back Sandesh Jhingan was named the player of the tournament for a remarkable performance throughout the 2023 Intercontinental Cup. The 29-year-old is currently without a club, and will be a man in demand after his remarkable performance with the Indian national team. The Blue Tigers won the trophy without conceding a single goal, capping off a very impressive run at the Kalinga Stadium.
