On Thursday i.e. 23rd September, the nominations for the International Emmy Awards 2021 have been announced and India has bagged three nominations at the coveted international awards.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor category for Serious Men. Whereas, Vir Das has been nominated in the Comedy section for his Netflix special Vir Das: For India and last but not the least Disney Plus Hotstar series Aarya, starring Sushmita Sen in the lead role, has received a nomination in the Best Drama Series category.
Vir has said in a statement while talking about the nominations that “I am so honored to be nominated, but I am just so happy it’s for a show about my culture, and my people and how funny we are. The special was my love letter to India and this is just unbelievable.”
While Sushmita Sen has congratulated her team through a post on Twitter. Where she wished luck to Vir and Nawazuddin for their respective nominations.
Aarya was released in the year 2020. It is created by Ram Madhvani. The show is followed by Sushmita Sen’s titular character who has been seen trying to save her family after her husband has been murdered. It has been heard that the show has recently wrapped up its filming for its second season.
Serious Man stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, which is directed by Sudhir Mishra. The film was basically based on the book of the same name written by Manu Joseph.
