The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to increase the prize money for the Women’s T20 World Cup to promote women’s cricket. The ICC has raised the total prize money for the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup to a staggering Rs 66.6 crore ($7,958,080). The winners of the tournament will now receive Rs 19 crore ($2.34 million), which represents a 134% increase from the previous World Cup when Australia, the reigning champions, took home a much smaller amount.

Runners-Up and Semi-Finalists to Benefit From Increased Payouts

This hike ensures that the second-place finishers will be compensated fairly for their efforts on the global stage.

Additionally, teams reaching the semi-finals will each pocket $675,000. This is more than three times what the semi-finalists received in 2023, reflecting the ICC’s commitment to making the tournament financially rewarding for all the teams involved. Base Prize for Group Stage Exits

In total, $1.125 million will be distributed among the teams at this level.

Furthermore, teams finishing in the fifth to eighth positions will earn $270,000 each, while the ninth and 10th placed teams will receive $135,000 each.
