The audience was grown using different techniques like high decibel campaigns, good storytelling, dedicated regional programming and customer innovations. India’s loss definitely made the fans sad but the power of cricket to engross the whole nation got known.

A major sports channel confirmed the ICC men’s T20 World Cup 2021, delivered exceptional viewership on the network, that registered a cumulative reach of 238 million till last week (qualifiers + first 12 games of Super 12 stage).

The opening stage was dominated by the most anticipated match of the season, India vs Pakistan. Though it became quite predictable in the end the viewers were more involved with how their respective team is performing.

On the digital platform, Disney+Hotstar which is the official streaming partner of the T20 Men’s World Cup garnered 12 million views on the India-Pakistan faceoff in the cricket tournament in Abu Dhabi. The India-Pakistan match did not set any new records on the OTT platforms in terms of viewership but did come very close to the highest viewership that Disney+Hotstar have had so far.

According to BARC, the overall consumption reached 47 billion minutes.

However, the exit of the Indian team may have a negative effect on the viewership of television and the OTT platform.

The match between the Men in Blue and Men in Green is always an eminent one, thanks to the streak that the Indian team carried into the tournament, that is never losing to the Green Army in World Cup history in ODIs and T20Is.
