IBM brings next-gen Power10 processor, ask Samsung for manufacturing_TechnoSports.co.in

International Business Machines Corp, IBM in short is one of the most popular multinational technology companies as we all know. This Monday, this giant announced its new processor chip that can handle three times the workload that its other processors and this is designed for its business inside data centers.

The new processor chip by IBM is called Power10 chip and the Korean giant Samsung will manufacture it. The 7-nanometer chip manufacturing process will be used for Power10, which is quite similar to the Advanced Micro Devices Inc’s (AMD) 7-nanometer technology. AMD’s chip is manufactured by the Taiwan based company TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd.

Both the AMD and IBM use outside facilities to manufacture their chips. That because to compete with Intel Corp which is the dominant provider of data center’s central processors. Besides Intel is one of a few who does design and manufacture on its own.

Let you know, three of the world’s top 10 fastest computers are using IBM chips inside. As per the company, the new Power10 chip has been designed to perform faster while doing artificial intelligence computing tasks and mathematically it can be up to 20 times faster than the earlier generation chips by IBM.
