Lionel Messi’s decision to retire from the Argentine national team has triggered an emotional wave across the football world. Among the most heartfelt reactions came from his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, who reflected on the extraordinary journey they shared with their family.

Following Messi’s announcement, Roccuzzo shared his emotional farewell video on Instagram and accompanied it with a deeply personal message. Her words offered a glimpse into the sacrifices, disappointments and unforgettable triumphs behind one of football’s greatest careers.

Antonela’s Emotional Words for Messi

Roccuzzo wrote about witnessing Messi through both his greatest victories and his hardest moments. She described years filled with happiness but also setbacks, highlighting how he repeatedly found the strength to get back up and continue fighting.

Her message carried a particularly personal meaning because she and their three sons—Thiago, Mateo and Ciro—have watched Messi’s international journey from close by.

“They’ve seen their dad fight for what he wanted, never give up, and keep believing until the very end,” Roccuzzo wrote, according to the report.

She added that her children may only fully understand the significance of their father’s story when they are older, but for now, they are simply proud of him.
