Huawei announced the MateBook D 16 and MateBook 16s with 12th generation Intel CPUs last month. That was only for China, but Huawei also intends to sell those two devices in Europe.
Huawei MateBook Coming to Europe
The computers were displayed at an event in Istanbul, Turkey. They were joined by the foldable Huawei Mate Xs 2, the recently revealed Huawei Nova Y90, and the previously unveiled Y70. The Huawei MatePad Paper, a 10.3″ e-ink tablet, was also demonstrated.
Returning to the laptops. The two 16-inch Windows 11 PCs will be available in Europe soon, although Huawei has yet to provide pricing information and any concrete launch details.
The Huawei MateBook D 16 is made of metal and weighs 1.7kg (3.75lbs), which isn’t much for a 16-inch laptop. It features a 16:10 IPS LCD (1,920 x 1,200px, 142ppi) resolution and boasts excellent image quality with 100 percent sRGB coverage, a 1,200:1 contrast ratio, and 300 nits of brightness.
The CPU options are the Intel Core i5-12450H or the Core i7-12700H. The former has UHD Graphics (48 EU, 1.2GHz), while the latter has the more powerful Iris Xe graphics (96 EU, 1.4GHz). There is no special graphics option.
About the Other Features
You can configure the laptop with 8 or 16GB of RAM, storage is fixed at 512GB (NVMe SSD). The laptop has a 60Wh battery and two USB-C ports that can be used for charging and as a DisplayPort.
Additionally, there is a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, a USB 2.0, an HDMI port, and a 3.5mm combo headphones plus a mic jack. The MateBook D 16 ships with the necessary 65W power adapter and USB cable. There is an AMD-powered version of the MateBook D 16 (Ryzen 4600H), but today’s event was focused on the Intel-powered model.
The Huawei MateBook 16s is another 16” laptop, although the display on this one has a 3:2 aspect ratio (2,520 x 1,680px resolution). It is still an IPS LCD with 100% sRGB coverage, even better it offers higher contrast at (1,500:1) and factory calibration with an average deltaE of less than 1. This one is also powered by 12th generation Intel processors from the H-series, meaning 40W TDP. You can have it with dual-channel RAM and an NVMe SSD as well.
