Huawei revealed that the Huawei Mate 70 Series smartphones are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of this year at the HDC 2024 conference. But according to a fresh leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, there may be a delay, moving the launch window back to the middle or end of the fourth quarter—possibly even into December.

The sluggish adoption of the new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system and the integration of the newest Kirin 5G SoC appear to be the main causes of this claimed delay. Since the only information available on X was that the forthcoming series had been pushed out to the fourth quarter, @RODENT950 did not provide a specific launch timetable for the Mate 70 family.

It’s interesting to note that Mate 70 was first released in October, which occurred in the previously indicated quarter. This suggests Huawei may be planning to reveal the device in November or December. Although the specific Kirin chipset to be utilized is not mentioned in the report, an earlier rumor said that SMIC’s 5nm technology would be utilized for the Kirin 9100.

There are currently thought to be 4,000 native apps for HarmonyOS NEXT. In the upcoming years, Huawei wants to increase this number to 500,000. The Mate 70 series has seen some significant upgrades in certain crucial areas, according to the leaks. According to reports, the smartphones include an OmniVision OV50K primary camera (1-inch) with variable aperture, a curved LTPO OLED display (1.5K), and a solvent Kirin 9100 CPU.

Finally, it appears that Huawei encountered manufacturing issues when producing the new flagship Kirin chip. It was first anticipated to take advantage of SMIC’s 5nm technology. Nevertheless, low yield rates due to subpar SMIC wafers forced the Kirin 9100 to use the 7nm technology.
