Huawei Enjoy Z 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 800, 90Hz display launched for ¥1699

Recently, Huawei launched its new budget 5G smartphone featuring the 7 nm based MediaTek Dimesity 800 rather than the newer Dimensity 820. The Chinese smartphone giant has launched the new Huawei Enjoy Z 5G aimed towards budget consumers.

As it carries an affordable ¥1699 (around $238) starting price tag, 5G smartphones are getting much cheaper, thanks to both Huawei as well as MediaTek. The smartphone enjoys a lot of interesting features, let’s check out:

Huawei Enjoy Z Specifications

The Enjoy Z 5G features a 6.5-inch FHD+ dewdrop display, still prevalent in most of the budget smartphones. The screen enjoys a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, which is common these days, along with 91.2% screen-to-body ratio and 180Hz touch sampling rate.

The MediaTek Dimensity 800 features 4 x ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and 4 x Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz while for the GPU we have the quad-core Mali-G77 MP9 GPU, indeed great for daily tasks and gaming as well.

On the camera front, the Huawei Enjoy Z 5G sports a 48MP triple camera setup on the rear end, with the main camera having f/1.8 aperture and it comes along with a 2MP f/2.4 4CM macro camera along with an 8MP f/2.4 super wide-angle camera. 

Huawei claims to equip the smartphone with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for smooth and stable videos. You’ll also be able to use the 10x digital zoom feature along with various modes including night scene mode, macro mode, and a beauty mode. The smartphone features a decent 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera as well.

There will be three variants of the smartphone including 6GB RAM +64GB storage, 6GB RAM +128GB storage, and 8GB RAM +128GB storage. There’s also support for storage expansion via a NanoMemory card slot (up to 256GB). 

The smartphone does include a 4000mAh battery which supports 22.5W fast charge, for connectivity it features Bluetooth 5.1 & Dual-Band Wi-Fi support. Also there’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, along with OTG and Dual-SIM support. 

On the software front, we have Huawei’s EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 out of the box which has some interesting features like Knuckle Screenshot, Bluetooth Easy Connect with Huawei Freebuds 3, and a smart collage feature in the Gallery app.

Price & Availability

The Huawei Enjoy Z 5G smartphone has been launched in China at a starting price of ¥1699 (around $238) for the 6GB+64GB base variant, ¥1899 (around $266) for 6GB+128GB variant and ¥2199 (around $308) for 8GB+128GB variant.  

It will be available in Dark Blue, Sakura Snow Clear Sky, and Magic Night Black colours and can be pre-ordered on Vmall and on JD.com before it goes on sale on June 1.
