The much-awaited Honor Magic6 series, with its innovative camera technology, is poised to revolutionize smartphone photography. The flagship smartphone is expected to launch in the following year and will prominently display the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Honor Magic6 with OV50K camera sensor

The real buzz, meanwhile, comes from the announcement that the Honor Magic 6 will be the first smartphone to use the cutting-edge OV50K camera sensor. As per Digital Chat Station’s post on Weibo, the Honor Magic6 will be the first phone to be equipped with the OV50K imager.

Digital Chat Station posted information on Weibo stating that the OV50K sensor will have a 1-inch optical design. This means that it could equal or perhaps exceed the capabilities of the Sony IMX989, which has been the industry standard for a long time. Suspicion points to a 1-inch sensor, evoking analogies to the OV50H’s 1/1.3′′ optical architecture; however, the precise sensor size is still unknown.

Although the sensor’s dimensions are unknown at this time, the OV50K’s 1/1.3″ optical design makes sense in light of the OV50H’s optical design.

With the popular but now outdated Sony IMX989 smartphone sensor, this would leave the OV50K as the only 1-inch smartphone sensor.
