Even though Hitman 3 has been out for over a year, developer IO Interactive is still working on Agent 47 and the last chapter in the world of assassination trilogy. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak outlined numerous new modes coming to the game in early 2022 in a brief update, starting with Hitman 3’s VR mode, which will be released with Elusive Target Arcade on PC in January 2022.
According to IO, Elusive Target Arcade is a new way to hunt down Hitman 3’s most difficult contracts via a permanent update to the game. Since the start of the World of Assassination trilogy in 2016, Elusive Targets have been a time-limited event, with successful fulfillment of each contract awarding players with new cosmetic items and assassination gear. In a blog post, IO stated that further information will be released later this year.
Ray tracing technology will be added to Hitman 3 later in 2022 for PC users with the appropriate hardware. According to Abrak, new maps, narratives, modes, and ways to play the game are on the way, as well as surprises that “the community has been demanding for a very very long time.” Since its release, Hitman 3 has received additional Elusive Target missions, new contracts, and a series of missions centered on the seven deadly sins theme.
IO Interactive is also developing a James Bond video game that will offer a fresh take on the character and his high-stakes covert environment. If you missed Hitman 3 earlier this year, it’s now accessible through cloud streaming on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
