What Is Rafoo About?

The official logline captures the beautiful madness perfectly: a struggling singer is stuck sharing his flat with his ex-mother-in-law while his successful ex-wife lives upstairs with her new boyfriend — and every awkward encounter proves they may not be over each other. But is love worth surviving this nightmare?

Think of every unbearably awkward post-breakup situation you can imagine — and then compress it all into one apartment building. Rafoo isn’t just a love story about two people. It’s a love story about two people, one mother-in-law, one new boyfriend, one flat, and the sheer human comedy of being unable to let go even when common sense is screaming at you to. That layered domestic chaos — played out in close proximity — is the kind of comedy that lands because it’s uncomfortably, recognisably true.

Why Maniesh Paul and Angira Dhar are the Inspired Casting?

Maniesh Paul — one of Indian television’s most naturally gifted comic performers, now building a solid OTT presence — is the perfect fit for a character navigating maximum awkwardness with maximum charm. His ability to find genuine warmth inside chaos has always been his superpower, and Rafoo was practically written for that energy.

Director Shashank Bali brings a sharp instinct for situational comedy — and the Edit II production house’s focus on grounded, character-driven storytelling ensures Rafoo won’t sacrifice emotional depth for easy laughs.

Angira Dhar — known for her work in Bamfaad and Tees Maar Khan — adds the emotional intelligence and comic restraint that elevates the female role beyond a simple foil. Their chemistry, on paper, already feels electric.

Among Prime Video’s 2026 lineup, Rafoo stands out for blending romance and comedy in a genuinely unusual living arrangement — one that feels fresh, specific, and distinctly Indian in its understanding of how families, exes, and emotional baggage share the same cramped space.
