The winning team of 1983 World Cup has an amazing victory story to share but there’s also every little moments that needs to be celebrated off-field as well. The Indian team was actually an underdog and they created history by defeating West Indies in the biggest competition of cricket. In a 2019 episode of The Kapil Sharma show, the players did tell some of their fun stories and confessed their naughty actions.

They revealed that Sandip Patil was their captain at night, off-field. From going to parties to style it was Mr. Patil who led the players. Sandeep in the episode also mentioned how the current code of conduct was applicable back in 1980s except for Kapil Dev, Mohinder Amarnath and some others but none of them were allowed to play actually.

The batsman actually said about the time he have ‘special friends’ who came to meet him at their hotel. He was sharing a room with Sunil Gavaskar, he will be asking to spare him in his room for some time. Gavaskar played along initially but then he was annoyed because of the regular coming of guests.

Kapil Sharma asked a couple of questions to the players and Sandeep Patil agreed that there were people who woo or got wooed. He was the second one. The teammates shared a light moment at how Sandeep had a lot of fun during the tours. Kapil Dev declared that the team players loved the night captain more than him.

Kabir Khan’s movie 83 will be bringing the same camaraderie between these players and how they uplifted the trophy which was thought by nobody. The Ranveer Singh-led film will hit cinema halls on December 24. Interestingly, Sandeep Patil’s son Chirag Patil will play his father in the film.
