Microsoft’s Surface laptops are great devices; however, they have one big flaw which has kept them from sweeping the market, and it is the fact that they don’t bring anything new to the table after every new update.

Microsoft has always stuck with the same formula when launching a new Surface Pro model, and that formula has stopped working years back. However, according to a tipster and a leaked image, we can expect that Microsoft has finally accepted that things need to be changed.

According to new reports, the Surface Pro 8 could tout the most upgrades ever seen on a device from the software giant. Tomorrow we will be witnessing Microsoft’s event, and as things stand, we can see some more exciting launches other than the Surface Duo 2.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 12.3" Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop is now available at ₹89,490 on Amazon

According to an alleged marketing material of the Surface Pro 8 shared by @Shadow_Leak on Twitter, the 2-in-1 will finally be getting treated to a 120Hz display. Other details include adding a 13-inch screen with narrower bezels, so it may sport a smaller footprint compared to the Surface Pro 7, making it easier to carry around.

But, disappointingly, Microsoft will not be using an LTPO OLED screen for the Surface Pro 8 and will probably stick to an LCD panel. The drawback to using this display technology will be a faster battery drain; however, we are still getting the 120Hz option.

Coming up next in the list of upgrades is the inclusion of two Thunderbolt interfaces. As Microsoft will use Intel’s 11th-generation processors, so of course, we can expect the Surface Pro 8 will have Thunderbolt ports.

For now, we don’t know as to whether the device will sport the Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 interface; however, Intel’s 11th-generation chips support the latest Thunderbolt 4 standard, making it easier to connect high-resolution external monitors, a multitude of peripherals, and even an eGPU solution to play the latest games to the laptop.

However, in the leak, we now have an idea when we can expect the Microsoft Surface Pro 8 to come into the market. Still, considering the shortage of semiconductors currently ongoing in the market, we can expect it to take a while. Hopefully, the windows maker will shed some light on the availability of the device.
