After a long wait, SC East Bengal are finally going to play in the top division league of India. Indian Super League will also have the taste of the first legacy club.
East Bengal are ready to conquer the ISL from its first season. All the teams in ISL are much stronger than the ones in I-League. To compete with them, East Bengal surely needed an upgradation in their team.
SC East Bengal have done their transfer business pretty well. A balance of talented Indian players with experienced foreigners will surely be exciting to see in their first season in ISL. Last week SC East Bengal have confirmed their 22-men domestic squad.
The 22-men domestic squad:
Goalkeepers: Sankar Roy, Debjit Majumder, Md. Rafique Ali Sardar, Mirshad Kootapunna.
Defenders: Gurtej Singh, Narayan Das, Samad Ali Mallick, LalramChullova, Mohammed Irshad, N Rohen Singh, Abhishek Ambekar, Rana Gharami.
Midfielders: Sehnaj Singh, Bikash Jairu, Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Yumnam Gopi Singh, Wahengbam Angousana, Md. Rafique, Moirangthem Loken Meitei, Surchandra Singh Chandam.
Forwards: Jeje Lalpekhlua, Balwant Singh.
Debjit Majumder was a part of ISL Champion team ATK in 2016. He also won I-League two times with Mohun Bagan AC. Md. Rafique was the goal-scorer of the ISL final in 2014 for ATK and won the first-ever ISL season with them. Jeje Lalpekhlua is also two times ISL Champion with Chennaiyin FC.
East Bengal have also signed some highly-rated foreigners. Scott Neville, Aaron Amadi-Holloway, Anthony Pilkington, Danny Fox, Matti Steinmann, Jacques Maghoma are some exciting talents. Their experience will also help East Bengal to conquer the new league. With Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler as head coach East Bengal will surely be a title contender this season.
