What Makes This Highlander Different?

Chad Stahelski, who transformed John Wick into a billion-dollar franchise, brings his visceral action expertise to the immortal warrior saga. The film follows Connor MacLeod, a 16th-century Scottish warrior who discovers he’s immortal after surviving a fatal battle wound.

According to Variety, the character spans hundreds of years, evolving through different historical eras while mastering martial arts and weaponry. Russell Crowe plays his mentor Ramírez (originally portrayed by Sean Connery), while Dave Bautista takes on the villainous Kurgan.

Star-Studded Cast and Massive Budget

The reboot boasts an impressive ensemble including Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Jeremy Irons, and WWE star Drew McIntyre. With a $165 million budget, this marks Stahelski’s first major project outside the John Wick universe.

The film moved from Lionsgate to Amazon MGM Studios following financial disputes, with the new studio banking on Stahelski’s action prowess to transform this niche franchise into a mainstream blockbuster.
