About Hanumankind

Hanumankind, born Sooraj Cherukat, hails from Kerala but is currently based in Bengaluru. His journey in music began during his formative years in Texas. He made his debut with the EP “Kalari,” followed by the collaborative project “Surface Level” with producer Kalmi. Hanumankind’s unique style and lyrical prowess have earned him a dedicated fan base, and his latest release, “Big Dawgs,” is a testament to his artistic evolution.

The Creation of “Big Dawgs”

Produced by Brown Crew Productions’ Kalmi and directed by frequent collaborator Bijoy Shetty, the “Big Dawgs” music video is a visual and auditory spectacle. Hanumankind not only wrote, composed, and performed the track but also brought his vision to life with the help of a talented team.

The song, a blend of desi swagger and western influences, delivers a powerful punch with its punk rage and high-energy drum beats.

Shooting in the Wall of Death

The “Big Dawgs” music video was shot in Ponnani, a coastal district in Kerala known as the Mecca of Kerala. The wall of death, a circular track used in daredevil motorcycle stunts, provided the perfect backdrop for the video’s gritty and intense visuals. Abhinay Pandit’s cinematography and slick editing work perfectly complemented Hanumankind’s dynamic performance, creating a mesmerizing viewing experience.

The Significance of the Location

Hanumankind chose the wall of death for its symbolic value. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he explained, “A lot of things are happening in this video. But mainly, if you want something, take that risk, man, or else it won’t happen. Even if you fail, it’s still the act of doing.”

“For me, even if this video didn’t work out, I get to tell my grandchildren that I actually sat inside the well of death and did this. At the very least, if nothing worked out, I’m happy about that.” This sentiment reflects the fearless attitude that permeates both his music and his approach to life.

Global Impact and Reception

“Big Dawgs” has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike. The track’s infectious energy and innovative visuals have resonated with a diverse audience, further propelling Hanumankind’s international reach. The YouTube logline succinctly captures the essence of the song: “Pushing culture baby, got that product you can’t measure.” This line encapsulates Hanumankind’s mission to push boundaries and elevate desi hip-hop to new heights.
