On episode 14 of Fabrizio Romano’s “Here We Go” podcast, the renowned journalist welcomed BILD’s Christian Falk to have an in-depth conversation. Transfer talks dominated the topics, as one can guess, and one of the people discussed was Borussia Dortmund star, Erling Haaland.
It is surreal that a move for the Norwegian already seems to be on the cards. He joined the club from RB Salzburg barely a year ago, but his goalscoring exploits have made the Golden Boy one of the best strikers in the world.
The 20-year-old has been linked with every single big club in the world, which is understandable considering his talent at such a young age. The Presidential candidates of Barcelona have promised to sign Haaland if they come into power.
Elsewhere, a move to his birthplace of England could also be on the cards. Coming back to the origins of the story, Falk and Romano spoke about Real Madrid and Manchester City being interested in signing the forward.
Madrid need a dependable back up to replace the ageing, but still reliable Benzema. And the same applies to Manchester City, only in their case, it is Sergio Aguero.
Real Madrid are reportedly set to choose between Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, and they are likely to choose the cheaper option. It is a case of either-or, and most likely won’t be both.
Haaland will most likely end up staying, according to the two reliable journalists. Since he arrived in January, it is easier to convince him to stay, and also because he is playing so well and scoring so much whilst playing in the Champions League.
The Golden Boy doesn’t have a release clause for 2021, but has a clear-cut one worth €75 million which kicks in from 2022. For a talent of his calibre, every club that can manage to put together the funds will be jumping at the opportunity to sign Haaland.
