Ha Jung Woo Set to Lead “Inside Men” Prequel Film Trilogy: Crime Drama Gets Major Expansion

Big news for crime drama enthusiasts! Actor-filmmaker Ha Jung Woo is reportedly reviewing an offer to headline the ambitious “Inside Men” prequel film trilogy—and this could be one of the year’s most significant casting announcements.

The Inside Men Universe Expands

The original “Inside Men” film (2015) was a powerhouse—a gripping crime thriller that captivated audiences with its intricate plot about power struggles and complex relationships between influential figures. Now, that universe is about to get a major expansion, and not in the way fans initially expected.

From Series to Trilogy: The Project Evolution

Here’s where things get interesting. The project was originally developed as a television series under director Mo Wan Il, with an impressive ensemble cast in consideration: Song Kang Ho, Koo Kyo Hwan, Soo Ae, and Lee Sung Min. However, after significant restructuring and casting changes, production pivoted. The TV series morphed into something bigger—a three-part film trilogy.

This isn’t your typical prequel. Set in the late 1980s, these films will explore the origins of the powerful networks and figures that shaped the story audiences already know. Think of it as filling in the crucial backstory that made the original film’s world so compelling.
