Gujarat Titans: Everything you need to know about the new IPL 2022 entrant

Two new teams have been added to the IPL tournament. Namely, the Ahmedabad franchise is named Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Franchise is named the Lucknow Super Giants.

The franchise is owned by CVC Capitals and led by all-rounder Hardik Pandya.

Titans home stadium is going to be the Shri Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad which is the largest cricket stadium in the world.

“We want this group to achieve great things for Gujarat and its many passionate fans, which is why we have chosen the name Titans,” Siddharth Patel, a partner at CVC, said in a release on Wednesday. “As we approach the league’s mega auction, we are confident that we will be able to put together the right combination of players going into the new season. We want individuals that are not only highly skilled but who are inspired to be Titans of the game. “We look forward to starting on our journey with the passion and support of the people of Gujarat, and hope to inspire and win over new fans from all over India and the world.”

The Gujarat Titans had got Vikram Solanki as the Director of Cricket. Ashish Nehra is set to be the head coach of the franchise and former World Cup-winning coach and South Africa opener Gary Kirsten will be the Head of Cricket Operations and batting coach for IPL 2022.

The franchise is inspired by the opportunity to represent and build on this deep cricketing heritage, as well as build on its future success on the pitch”.

Gujarat Titans’ players

Prior to the Mega Auctions, the team chose

  • Hardik Pandya as the captain (Rs 15 crore)
  • Rashid Khan (Rs 15 crore)
  • Shubman Gill (Rs 8 crore)

The IPL mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. IPL 2022 will begin in March-end this year and the final would be played in May, as confirmed by BCCI secretary Jay Shetty.
