Gujarat Titans have made it to the finals of the IPL in their first-ever season in existence, chasing down a total of 189 set by Rajasthan Royals. The new franchise beat the first-ever winners of the IPL by seven wickets as they confirmed their spot as the first finalists this year.
The Titans needed 16 off of the last over to progress to the final. And with three straight sixes, David Miller was able to guide his side through in style. He put up an unbeaten 68 off 38 balls and finished off the innings in style alongside captain Hardik Pandya, who was on 40 from 27 himself.
Gujarat Titans make history with IPL final spot earned
The top scorer of the league this year, Jos Buttler was able to mount up 89 runs in the first innings to set up a decent total for the Gujarat Titans to chase down. But just like they have done all season, they were able to keep things under control and chase down a big total this year too.
Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed in the very first over, but the partnership between Shubhman Gill and Matthew Wade helped stabilise the innings. The arrival of Miller and Pandya was enough to see out the remainder of the chase in style, with the South African scoring an unbeaten 68 as he earned the man of the match award.
