GoPro Hero11 Black Mini: Powerful like Hero11 Black without a display

GoPro Hero11 Mini - As Powerful As The Hero11 Black

GoPro Mini looks like a reincarnation of the discontinued Hero Session camera line. But it’s more likely that the device is a scaled-down version of the upcoming Hero 11 Black, with leaker Roland Quandt of Winfuture suggesting that both cameras would feature a new, large image sensor.

Leaked images indicate that alongside the rumored Hero 11 Black, GoPro may also launch a small and compact “Mini” camera without any display screens. It may have the same 27MP image sensor that is capable of capturing video at 5,616 x 3,744px resolution.

Hero11 Mini doesn’t have any displays – not on the front, not on the back. We don’t know the battery capacity yet, but the lack of displays (and possibly smaller battery) are what make the Mini smaller than the Black.

In the meantime, leaked images show a Bluetooth button on the front of the GoPro Mini, giving a clear indication of how the camera would connect to other devices. Also visible in the leaked photos are mounting options, present both on the bottom and the back of the device, implying that GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini may be more versatile in its applications.

Both of the 11-series models will use the GP2 processor from last year, which can handle 5.3K video at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, and 2.7K at 240fps, it can also do live streams at 1080p. HyperSmooth stabilization will be updated to v5.0, TimeWarp will remain at v3.0.

The rough dimensions are 50 x 50mm and nearly 40mm thick (notice that there are two mounting points – one on the bottom as usual and a new one at the back). For comparison, the GoPro10 Black measures 71.8 x 50.8 x 33.6mm, while the Hero5 Session was 38 x 38 x 38mm. Also, the Session did have a tiny display on top – not big enough for a view finder, but enough to show the recording mode, recording time and a few icons.

The weight of the new GoPro Mini camera is not yet known. But if the battery flap in the leaked photos is any indicator, the device will likely feature a smaller battery than what’s found on your standard GoPro cameras. And, hence, save on some weight there as well. The Hero11 Mini will certainly be cheaper than the Black, but probably not as cheap as a Session model would have been. But, there is no word on pricing yet.
