The pandemic struck us when we all were least prepared and thus it changes how we move forward with our lives. Tech companies across the world believe that the style of working which has been adopted during the pandemic will stay in effect permanently and that work from home is here to stay.
As such, Google has reported updating its productivity software to better meet the needs of frontline and remote workers. In its update, the company’s Workspace will specifically be tailored for the frontline workers, such as retail and health-care employees.
It will enable the organizations to better communicate and collaborate with employees through their mobile phones and is similar to a service from rival Microsoft Corp.
In an attempt to improve its Workspace, formerly G-suit, the internet giant is trying to make its line of productivity tools, including Gmail, Meet video conferencing, and Docs word processing, essential to businesses that have been affected by the pandemic.
“Messiness of work-life during the pandemic. It will never be the same again, but we should use that as an opportunity rather than try to recreate 2018 or 2019.”
According to sources, Workspace will notify employees if they try to message a colleague who’s off the clock, and encourage them to time an email for when the co-worker is back online. Google Assistant will work with corporate Workspace accounts, letting people send messages and check calendars with their voice.
