Pixel 7 Series

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were formally unveiled by Google at its fall hardware event, with the same prices as last year’s models and a second-generation Tensor chipset. Tensor G2 powers the $599 Pixel 7 and $899 Pixel 7 Pro, enhancing pre-existing features and introducing a few new ones. This is primarily a tale about software, with occasional minor hardware updates and alterations.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 pro Display comparison to their previous generation smartphones

In comparison to the Pixel 6’s 6.4-inch 1080p display, the Pixel 7’s screen measures 6.3 inches. Google claims that even if the top refresh rate of 90Hz is the same, the bezels are thinner than those of the Pixel 6. The 6.7-inch 1440p LTPO display on the 7 Pro features a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which is identical to the 6 Pros. In peak brightness mode, both panels, according to Google, are up to 25% brighter than their forerunners.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro Specifications

Google guarantees five years of security upgrades for the devices, which come with Tensor G2 and 8GB or 12GB of RAM in the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, respectively. Face unlock will be available on both phones in addition to in-display fingerprint sensors; let’s hope it is quicker than the sluggish fingerprint sensors on last year’s models.

Although the Pixel 7’s spec sheet suggests that its capacity is slightly smaller than that of the Pixel 6, both devices still guarantee “24-hour plus” battery life. Battery life claims are largely consistent from year to year. From 48 to 72 hours, Google has increased the claimed duration of its Extreme Battery Saver mode. With both 30W wired charging and wireless charging available, charging speeds are identical in either situation.

Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro Camera features

The 50-megapixel main camera introduced in the Pixel 6 series is still used by the 7 and 7 Pro, but this time a 2x mode is available, similar to the one seen on the iPhone 14 Pro, that crops in by employing the 12 megapixels located in the sensor’s centre. The telephoto lens on the Pixel 7 Pro has a 5x zoom increase (up from 4x on the 6 Pro), and it employs a similar technique with its 48-megapixel sensor to achieve a 10x zoom by exploiting the centre pixels.

The ultrawide camera on the 7 Pro has a 125-degree field of view, is broader, and now has autofocus to enable a macro option. The 10.8-megapixel selfie camera in the Pixel 7 is the same as that on the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, thus it retains the ultrawide camera from last year.
