Google recently said that it would begin expanding in Japan and India before delivering its generative AI search experience to other nations. In certain regions, Google’s Search Labs will start offering the new AI-powered search tool, also known as Google SGE (Search Generative Experience), which will include a new feature targeted at making it simpler to access information in its AI-powered overviews.

Google SGE, which was first introduced at the Google I/O Developer Conference in May, introduces a conversational feature to Google Search.

How To Use Google SGE, first register at Google Labs:

  1. Visit the Google Labs website and log in using your Google account credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Generative AI section and find the ‘Sign Up’ button.
  3. Carefully review the terms and conditions, then click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  4. Once your registration through Labs is successfully completed, you’ll be ready to utilize the Google SGE.

Generative AI users in Japan will benefit from the convenience of engaging with the technology in their mother tongue. In India, individuals will have the option to easily switch between Hindi and English by using a language toggle. Moreover, this feature includes voice input, which caters to the preferences of Indian users who find it more convenient to verbally express their queries instead of typing them out and then listening to the corresponding answers.

Alongside the launches mentioned above, Google SGE is introducing a user-friendly feature to help users easily locate and access websites that provide supporting information for the data presented in the AI’s responses.

To access more detailed information about a topic discussed in an AI-powered overview, users can simply click the newly introduced arrow icon next to the relevant details. This feature allows users to directly visit the knowledge source that was used by the AI, providing them with additional insights and a deeper understanding of their queries. Initially launching in the US, this feature will gradually expand its availability to include India and Japan in the upcoming weeks.

Moreover, Google has acknowledged that users find value in the ability to ask follow-up questions. It has also been observed that users are now posing longer and more conversational questions using complete phrases. This stands in contrast to traditional Google searches where users would typically begin with just a few search terms.
