Google Pixel Tablet is the upcoming product from the tech giant and it seems that the company has yet again failed to protect key hardware information of its future product. A large specifications leak via a ‘now gone’ Amazon page reveals that the slate will amaze in some areas, such as battery life, but disappoint in others.
Starting with the display, the Pixel Tablet will have a 10.95-inch IPS LCD panel with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and 500 nits of brightness, according to the Amazon Japan ad. Unfortunately, if you prefer smoother scrolling or navigating via a high refresh rate, you will not be able to do so because Google does not use such a display for this model. The slate, on the other hand, will include USI 2.0 pen support as well as three microphones and a quad-speaker configuration.
A USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and UWB are among the connectivity choices. Unfortunately, the camera technology will be subpar, with the Pixel Tablet having a single 8MP front and back sensor capable of recording 1080p footage at 30FPS. Apart from the Tensor G2 SoC, the tablet’s previous-generation UFS 3.1 storage is another disappointment.
The Pixel Tablet is expected to be available in 128GB and 256GB storage configurations, with both having slower read and write capabilities.
Modern flagships include UFS 4.0 storage, thus if Google wants to compete, it should avoid cost-cutting measures like this. In terms of memory, the Pixel Tablet will sport 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, but 12GB would have been ideal. However, provided the specifications are genuine, the battery life should be outstanding, with the listing claiming a 12-hour runtime thanks to a 27WHr battery under the hood.
In terms of pricing, Amazon Japan had the item available for 79,800, or $591, which may deter customers because that is frequently how much Apple’s M1 iPad Pro may cost on a lucky day. It is also rumoured that Google would include a docking attachment with the Pixel Tablet for free, although this will be confirmed during the formal launch.
