Google is reportedly working on its first foldable smartphone which will officially debut later this year and after the launch, some key details have surfaced. The foldable smartphone from the tech giant is likely to be named the Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad and the company has given the contract of its manufacturing as well.
Foxconn will be making Google Pixel Fold and Apple’s iPhones:
Google has previously partnered with Foxconn to manufacture its smartphones as the brand is responsible for making high-quality Pixel smartphones. The report goes on to add that the tech brand will launch two new flagships this year.
One of them will be the foldable smartphone, the Pixel Notepad while the other one will be a top-tier Pixel smartphone. The Pixel Notepad will be similar to the Oppo Find N which means it will have a square design when it is unfolded. It has a 5.8″ display and will be powered by the Tensor 2 chip.
In terms of pricing, it could retail at around $1,399 or Rs.1,11,322 for the foldable one. This would make it cheaper in comparison to the Galaxy Z Fold. The flagship Pixel Series from Google average a sale of around five to seven million units annually and on that basis, the market has set the estimate for sales of the foldable units at 3 million a year.
