Google Pixel 8a: Certification Site Reveals 5,000mAh Battery Speculation

In October 2023 Google unveiled the Pixel 8 series, which includes a Pixel 8 and a higher-end model called Pixel 8 Pro. There have been rumors, about an addition to the series possibly called Pixel 8a. While Google has not officially confirmed this smartphone it has been seen times giving us a glimpse of its anticipated features and design. A recent report reveals that the Google Pixel 8a expected to be released this year appeared on a certification site and provided some details about its battery specifications.

According to a report by 91Mobiles a Google Pixel device with the model number GH2MB was spotted on the UL Demko certification website. The listing indicated that it may have a battery capacity of 4,942mAh (which will likely be marketed as “typical capacity”). This suggests that this particular model could be the rumored Google Pixel 8a and would bring an improvement over the 4,385mAh battery found in the generation Google Pixel 7a.

However, it’s important to note that larger batteries are typically found in Google’s flagship models. For example, the Pixel 8 Pro boasts a 5,050mAh battery while even the base model of Pixel 8 comes with a sized battery at around 4,575mAh. It is expected that during Google’s I/O event in May of this year, they will officially announce details, about the Google Pixel 8a. It is anticipated to support charging up to speeds of around 27W. It is estimated to measure approximately at dimensions of about 152.1 mm x 72.6 mm x 8.9 mm.

The retail packaging that has been leaked shows the phone available, in black. It comes with a dual camera setup and LED flash arranged horizontally on a raised camera module. Earlier leaks of the smartphone have displayed a design, to the model of the Pixel 8. In terms of pricing, the Google Pixel 8 launched in India with the 8GB + 128GB variant priced at ₹75,999, while the 8GB + 256GB model was listed at ₹82,999. The Pixel 8 Pro is available at ₹1,06,999 for the 12GB + 128GB variant, with the 12GB + 256GB option priced at ₹1,13,999.
