Google Chrome is the most used and widely popular browser for both Windows and Android OS. By the end of 2020, it seems like Google is planning to release many significant performance enhancements for its company’s browser. Matt Waddell, Chrome’s director of the product, stated that “This month’s update represents the largest gain in Chrome performance in years.”
Google Chrome will prioritize the active tab over the others. The company states that this is for “reducing CPU usage by up to 5x and extending battery life by up to 1.25 hours (based on our internal benchmarks). We’ve done this without sacrificing the background features that users care about, like playing music and getting notifications.”
According to sources, Chrome will now launch 25 percent faster than before and load pages 7 percent faster. The company is also adding a tab search feature that allows users to see the browser list of open tabs. The address bar is getting Chrome Actions, which the company termed as “a faster way to get things done with just a few keystrokes.”
The company is also planning on a new feature called “cards.” The developer states that “To help you jump back into activities like planning a meal, researching a holiday gift, or winding down with a video, we’ll soon add cards to your new tab page in Chrome. Clicking on them will take you to recently-visited and related content on the web, and save you time in the process.”
All these features will be coming to Google Chrome. It is quite interesting that google is offering such significant updates to its browser.
